In Dr. Himes’ Dual Credit Music Appreciation class, students are playing ukuleles to learn about their Elements of Music Unit. With this, his students are seeing and hearing elements of music visually. The goal of this activity was to learn how to properly play a simple song on the ukulele. Many of his students shared this is the first time playing an instrument. Gracie Woods, a second period student states, “I loved that I was allowed the opportunity to bond with my group.” Another student from this period, Kwyn Brandom says, “I am so glad I can finally play an instrument.” The ukuleles were donated to Dr. Himes and have been a great and enjoyable way for students to appreciate music.
