Recently, Mrs. Cornell’s Physical Science class did a fun activity with pumpkins, which is perfect for fall! They used Newton’s Laws to practice with pumpkins on a full-sized pumpkin-launching catapult. They learned how gravity, acceleration, and motion work in real life instead of just in their books. They connected what they observed from this experiment to Newton’s Three Laws of Motion, how mass and applied force change an object's acceleration. With this experiment, not only could they observe the laws, but they could also turn vocabulary and equations into something they could experience and put to use. This sounds like a very fun experiment for her and her students, and it sounds like they learned a lot from it. We hope to see more fun fall-themed school projects!
